All about BMW R18 Cruiser- Launches Next Month

BMW Mottorad has started accepting pre-orders for the BMW R18 cruiser which is set to launch next month this year. If you are looking for a high-end luxurious yet robust two-wheeler, this is definitely worth checking out. This blog aims to give you all the necessary information about the bike so that you can make an informed decision about whether this is the dream vehicle you wanted. The pre-booking had begun in April this year and could be done with INR 1lakh advance. The model will be on display at the BMW Mottorad dealership in Delhi for the next couple of days, if you want to check it out for real.

Factors That Make the BMW R18 Unique

You may wonder as you go through the bike price in India, why invest in a model as expensive as this one when there are so many other affordable options and what makes it so unique and expensive. The model is the latest addition to the cruiser segment of the brand and has a massive and powerful engine of 1802cc which is air as well as oil cooled. This is definitely the greatest attraction of the model among serious bikers who are looking for a highly functional two-wheeler that is the hardiest in the market. The 1.8l unit can produce 91 bhp power at 4750 rpm with a 158Nm torque. The exposed drive shaft of the bike is another mechanical aspect of the model that makes it so unique. It is definitely inspired by the older models of BMW cruiser.

Customizations for the Bike

BMW has a wide range of customizations specifically for this model and hence buyers can give a personalized and individual touch to their vehicles. This include custom-made seats, exhaust, side panels, and handlebars. All these options help to aesthetically improve your bike. The buyers can also opt for a 21inch front wheel which is significantly larger than the standard wheels you get for this model. The standard wheel has wire spokes but can also be replaced by the alloy wheels. It is expected that all or at least most of these customizations will be available in India.

Modern Electronics in Retro-Style

The design and style of the bike is retro-inspired and there are three riding modes which are Rain, Roll and Rock. There is also an automatic stability control or ASC which is switchable. There is also an engine drag torque control which is definitely a modern addition. MSR can help to prevent the rear-wheel slip and hence a very useful safety feature for rash drivers, during aggressive downshifts. There is also a reverse gear which is driven by electronic motor which will be useful for a bike this heavy as the BMW R18 weighs around 345 kg.

Two Available Variants

The BMW R18 will be available in two variants- the standard one and the first edition. There are extra chrome elements, blackstorm metallic paint, and a seat badge with “First Edition” clasp- all unique to the first edition model. This edition also have various intricate details like a tank emblem with copper letters, copper screws and gloves for the rider. There is also hilt-start assist, corner headlights and heated seat features as well for this variant that are not available for the standard model.

It is not yet very clear what the exact price point will be for these bikes, but keeping in mind the aggressive pricing of previous models available from the brand, one can expect these will follow suit. But with so many features and the reliability offered by BMW, this is definitely a bike worth checking out.
