Kia Motors Has Big Plans for Indian Automobile Market

Kia Motors India, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Korean automobile giant Kia Motors Corporation of South Korea, made its India debut with the Seltos SUV in 2019. Kia India currently offers three popular models of different price range-Sonet, Seltos and Carnival. The price of these three models varies between INR.6.71 Lakh and INR.33.95 Lakh.  Kia is planning to rule the Indian market by launching as-much-as fourteen new models in 2020-2021, and Kia car review in general shows tremendous possibility in India. Among these upcoming Kia cars, there are 3 hatchback, 5 Sedan, 4 SUV, and 1 Crossover. Kia has a total of 106 dealerships spread across 74 cities in India.

Kia Picanto:
Kia Motors displayed Picanto at the Auto Expo 2018. This Hatchback in based on Hyundai Grand i10, but will be positioned as a premium product, and is due for Indian market soon. Kia is likely to offer it with the same engine options as the Grand i10- a 1.2litre, four-cylinder petrol and a three-cylinder diesel that displaces similar capacity. The petrol variant will come with a five-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox option. In terms of design, it will offer distinct identity. Up front, the Picanto gets a honeycomb grille with fine chrome shrouds, projector headlamps, and circular fog lamps integrated to a massive air dam. The interior will also get a fresh, premium touch along with a big touchscreen infotainment unit with Bluetooth connectivity. The car will come heavily packed with features too.  The Picanto is to compete against the likes to Hyundai Grand i10, Ford Figo and the new Maruti Suzuki Swift. The new Kia car on road price will be somewhere around INR.6 lakh-INR.8 Lakh.

Kia Cerato:
Kia Cerato is expected to launch in India in 2020-2021, and will look into value for money prospects as-well-as rich feature and style. The front end will be the most eye-catching. Kia’s signature butterfly grille with chrome trim around will take the centre stage. The projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and stylish fog lamps will add to its charm. This mid-sized Sedan will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels and will come with integrated turn indicators on the ORVMs. The interior section will have a premium appeal with solid materials and a lot of comfort features. There will be no lack of sitting space or leg room in this 5-seater sedan. Multifunctional steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, electric sunroof are among its long list of modern features. This car will be offered in 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel options, and will come armed with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. Kia Cerato will be available for approximately INR.9 lakh-INR.14 Lakh price range.

Kia Sportage:
One of the most popular mid-sized SUVs from the brand, Kia Sportage is going to rule Indian roads within 2021. The front grille of this car is treated will high gloss black material, which adds to its stylish appeal. The major attractions at the exterior of this car will include features like Bi-Xenon headlights, LED Daytime running lamps, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, roof-rails, stylish alloy wheels etc. Kia Sportage will come with multiple powertrain options but expected to launch with a 2.0-litre CRDI diesel engine in India first, with an output of 184 bhp of peak power and 392 Nm of torque. It is also expected to come with both manual and automatic transmission options. The price range will be around INR.25 Lakhs.

Kia Stonic:
This popular SUV model is based on Kia Rio/Hyundai’s GB platform is already on sale on European markets and getting warmed up for its Indian counterpart. Being a compact SUV, it is likely to feature a –seat layout and a large boot for storing luggage. This model is available in the European market with three engine options including the 1.0-litre, turbocharged, three-pot petro, 1.4-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirant engine and a 1.6-litre oil burner. As for the Indian market, there is yet no clarity on this front. The on-road price of this upcoming Kia car is expected to be around INR.9 Lakh.

Kia Sorento:
This SUV from the Korean brand is set to launch in India sometime in 2021. A perfect balance between size and performance, the Kia Sorento will feature a chrome-finished grille at the front, while the top-of-the line GT line variant will receive an additional fog light. It will also pack a chrome exhaust tip at the back and red brake callipers as standard provisions. Kia claimed, this is going to be the most tech-filled car, and it will pack a myriad variety of comfort and connectivity features. It will be layered with a new 8.0-inch infotainment system with TomTom Satnav, supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also get a wireless phone charger and black leather seats. Kia Sorento is available in international market with a 2.4-litre petrol unit, a 2.0-litre oil burner and a 2.0-litre diesel unit. Apart from 8-speed gear-box, it can also be available in 6-speed manual as-well-as automatic transmission unit. Standard version is two-wheel drive but a 4-wheel drive is also optional. The specification for Indian market is yet sketchy. This upcoming Kia car will have an ex-showroom price around INR.25 Lakh.
