Triumph Trident Is Ready to Rule the Roads

Triumph has announced that their upcoming sports bike in its final stages of development, and will launch in India in 2021. The company has released photographs of the middleweight naked roadstar, ‘The Trident’. Triumph has been pretty tight lipped about this project and the first photos of this upcoming sports bike in India did not show much skin, but the test prototype in camouflage gave us an idea what the final product will look like.  With the names like Honda CB650R, Kawasaki Z650 and Yamaha MT-07, Trident’s ace in the sleeves will be its first triple cylinder engine in the segment, which is likely to produce 85PS and 70Nm. Though the design of this upcoming sports bike is somewhat derived from Triumph Street Triple and Daytona, it is expected that Triumph will equip the motorcycle with a range of electronic aids to enhance rider’s confidence. The completely fresh bit is the frame, though. Triumph says that the trident will feature an all-new style frame, and judging from the previous Triumph bikes, the new frame will definitely be a charmer.

Triumph Trident- Features

•    Considering that the bike is in its final stages of testing, we will find a lot more details in upcoming bike news in India, but the new images show the bike packing Showa-inverted front fork and a rear monoshock.
•    It also gets twin front disks with axial callipers up front and single piston callipers ones at the rear.
•    From the pictures, it can be determined that the bike seems to be riding on Michelin Road 5 Tyres on both ends, which will provide good grip as well as comfort in all weather conditions.
•    Judging by the other Triumph bikes, it is expected the instrument cluster to be fully loaded with a ton of information, including smartphone connectivity.
•    Apart from Bluetooth connectivity, other likely features are to be riding modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS and LCD instrumentation among others.

Triumph Trident-Styling and Aesthetics

•    The styling of the Trident can be called minimalistic given its European flair and dash of American brawniness. The round headlight gives a retro vibe to the naked bike, while the muscular fuel tank reminds us of the Harley-Davidson Bronx.
•    The rear portion is similar to the older Street Triple and to give the bike a clean look, the number plate bracket will be mounted on the swing-arm. The curvier lines in the design give the Trident a more mature look.
•     The all-new tubular steel chassis is another big improvement on the design which will help in saving cost. The rake angle could be more relaxed for better stability and the suspension setup might be on the softer side to offer a more comfortable ride as the bike is focused on beginner riders.
•    The British brand has informed that despite the new chassis, fun factor will not be missing from this upcoming sports bike. A more upright and comfortable riding posture than the Street Triple will make the Trident a competent tourer.

However, the icing on the cake is the confirmation from Triumph about its India launch. The bike’s production in Thailand ensures that India could avail the benefits of the Free Trade Agreement. It will be the most affordable Triumph as the price range is likely to be within INR 6.5-7 Lakh.
